Descrição: Gianelli Imbula é um médio todo-o-terreno e está a ser uma das principais figuras no renascer do Marselha e também uma das revelações do campeonato Francês. Imbula foi no Verão muito cobiçado pelos principais emblemas da Ligue 1, depois de uma temporada a grande nível no Guingamp, mas considerou o projecto do Marselha o mais aliciante e acabou por rumar ao Vélodrome.  Caracteriza-se por ser um médio centro com muita raça, pujança e força, como já nos habituaram os box-to-box africanos que estão a actuar na Europa. É um jogador com um bom sentido posicional e uma presença táctica a roçar o perfeito. Com uma passada larga, conduz muito bem a bola e sabe aguentar as cargas dos adversários, o que torna muito difícil, a tarefa de lhe tirar a bola. Possui uma visão de jogo impressionante, o que lhe permite escolher quase sempre o tempo certo para fazer o passe e dar seguimento ás jogadas da sua equipa. Não é um recuperador de bolas nato, mas joga com inteligência o que lhe permite ler as jogadas e antecipar-se ao adversário. Imbula é também um gerador de posse-de-bola. Tem sido constantemente associado ao Chelsea, onde, como já se sabe, Mourinho gosta de ter jogadores com as suas características, como Essien ou Obi Mikel.
